Feast of Christ the King: "He Shall Send His Angels with a Trumpet and a Great Voice!"

On this last Sunday of the liturgical year we celebrate the feast of Christ the King. It should remind us that we are not a people who put our trust in men, but in the God of the Universe, the Word made flesh. As long as we live in Him we can never be defeated by the slings and arrows of the evil one.

I went to the Tridentine Mass today and the readings for the last Sunday of the year (24th Sunday after Pentecost) are much more fitting for this feast in my opinion than the gospel for the Novus Ordo from St. Luke whic depicts the suffering Christ on the cross. The Tridentine gives us Matthew 24 about the last days when the Son of Man will come on the clouds of heaven in power and majesty to judge the living and the dead.

Are you ready to meet the King?

Jesus Christ, Lord of the Universe, have mercy on us.
